The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) will host their inaugural Oklahoma Film + Music Conference: New Heights on November 14 and 15 at Vast in Oklahoma City. This conference will commemorate 40 years of the state supporting an organized Film Commission by recognizing our state’s success and the strides we’ve made in putting Oklahoma on the map as a top filming destination in the United States.
With sessions covering both the film and music industries, audiences are invited to learn professional skills from a variety of speakers and panels. The conference is designed to foster the education and development of both seasoned professionals and industry members just getting started.
“The time is now to celebrate decades of rich film and music history and to acknowledge the great strides Oklahoma has made to make this an exceptional place to create, work and live,” said Tava Maloy Sofsky, Director of the Oklahoma Film + Music Office. “We are equally excited to empower present and future filmmakers, music-makers and the businesses that support both industries to learn and grow in their craft and talents, as we move to new heights together.”
Featured speakers include Jonathan King, independent film producer; Danny Manus, CEO of BullScript Consulting; DaJuan Johnson, Emmy-nominated actor; Anna Darrah, Director of Acquisitions for Spiritual Cinema Circle; Laura King, Business Manager at IATSE Texas/Oklahoma Local #484; Abby Kurin, Director of the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture; Jarod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, composer; Garrett Starks, owner of Castle Row Studios; Jeff Moseley, Founder and President of Fair Trade Services; and over 10 other expert industry professionals.
The opening session, “Why Industry Power Players are Choosing Oklahoma”, will begin Thursday at 9:00 a.m., with the conference culminating with a closing session, “The Future of Oklahoma Film + Music”, Friday at 12:30 p.m. Attendees of this two-day event will have the opportunity to network with panelists and other guests during a networking mixer on Thursday evening at Flint, inside Colcord Hotel, as well as during two lunches catered by Vast.
Attendees can also visit exhibitor’s tables to learn more about businesses involved in the Oklahoma film and music industries, such as Aldgate Insurance, Boiling Point Media, Castle Row Studios, The Post Hero, deadCenter Film Festival, and more than 20 other exhibitors.
In addition, the Oklahoma Film + Music Conference will offer attendees “One on One Sessions” with entertainment promoter Box Talent Agency, Jim Halsey’s company Starmaker 360, and casting director Ricki Maslar. These “One on One Sessions” will include a brief consultation to give both business and talent conference goers the opportunity to connect with nationally acclaimed film and music agencies. A select amount of appointment times will be available. Sign up will be at the registration table.
