The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), in conjunction with the City of Okmulgee and Okmulgee Main Street Inc., is proud to announce the city has achieved ‘film friendly’ certification after completing the requirements for OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program.
“The cultural and historic roots of Okmulgee run deep, and we are excited for this opportunity to showcase Okmulgee and all it has to offer. From our beautiful historic downtown square to our breathtaking lakes, we have it all,” said Okmulgee Main Street Inc. Executive Director Heather Sumner. “We have seen firsthand the economic boost that the film industry has on our communities as hosting the TV series ‘Reservation Dogs’ these past two years has been a huge blessing on our local economy. We are thankful and excited for this opportunity to collaborate with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office.”
In addition to currently hosting the FX television series “Reservation Dogs,” the City of Okmulgee has previously supported production on the independent feature films “Birdie” and “Home Run” to name a few.
“From state leadership, including District 16 Representative Scott Fetgatter who has been a champion of Oklahoma’s film incentive program, to city leadership, local businesses and residents, we appreciate Okmulgee’s staunch support of our film and television industry, and we’re thrilled to announce their official ‘film friendly’ certification through our program,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky.
