Can you tell us how and why you started your business?
We started Cadenzo while in school at the University of Oklahoma. We were really interested in entrepreneurship/startups and combined it with our passion for live music.
What services do you provide within the film/music industry?
Cadenzo is an end-to-end booking platform for local music venues and artists. Our platform helps venues and artists spend way less time booking so they can spend more time building their businesses.
How has your company grown to meet the needs of Oklahoma’s film and/or music industries over the last 3-5 years?
COVID was tough for everyone in music, and we have pivoted our idea to be a tool that helps rebuild local music economies so venues and artists here in Oklahoma and beyond can bounce back better than before 2020.
What are the benefits of basing your company’s operations in Oklahoma?
For us, building in Oklahoma allows us to gain market traction in a state that wants to rally around and help us. There are tons of resources for entrepreneurs and for the arts right now so we love the momentum here as well.
What would you consider your business’s greatest accomplishment to date?
We helped a local venue in Tulsa save over 15 hours of manual tasks in their first three weeks of using Cadenzo.
Are there any recent successes your company would like to highlight related to work within the Oklahoma film and music industries?
We started with an idea in 2020 while still in college, since then we have raised almost $200,000, participated in three nationally recognized business accelerators, and have launched our platform in OKC, Tulsa and Kansas City.
What are you working on now/next?
We are currently working on launching our platform with 300 venues in 10 states.
What is your goal/vision for the future of your company?
When we look up in five years we see tens of thousands of venues across the US using our platform to manage booking logistics from local shows to regional and national tours.
What advice do you have for others who are considering starting a film or music business in Oklahoma?
Just get started. Too many ideas fail before they even start because no one acts on them! Life is too short not to take risks.
What opportunities do you believe await Oklahoma’s film/music industry in the future?
I think Oklahoma can be an anchor of film and music in the heart of the country and we are already seeing the beginnings of it.
