Transcript for “Rudderless” Trailer
After its successful world-premiere at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, Samuel Goldwyn Films has announced that “Rudderless” will be released simultaneously in theatres and video-on-demand (VOD) on Friday, October 17. The film’s trailer debuted earlier this week, and may be viewed on iTunes, or www.rudderlessthemovie.com.
Oklahoma natives Jeff Robison and Casey Twenter wrote the screenplay which they submitted to renowned actor William H. Macy, who also shares writing credits and makes his directorial debut with the film.
Regarding the film’s release, Twenter says, “We wrote ‘Rudderless’ with the hopes of making it in our own backyard with friends. Little did we know it would happen, and those friends would be likes of William H. Macy.” Robison adds, “Working on ‘Rudderless’ was a dream come true, and I think all of the talented Oklahomans who helped make the film will be thrilled when they get to see their efforts come to life on the big screen. It was because of the Oklahoma Film & Music Office, and the diligence, skills and professionalism of the crew here that ‘Rudderless’ turned out to be such a great film.”
“Rudderless” stars Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, Felicity Huffman, Jamie Chung, Selena Gomez and Laurence Fishburne. The script tells the story of a grieving father (Crudup) who finds salvation after the discovery of his deceased son’s demo tapes and lyrics. The film was shot in Oklahoma City last year utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by the Oklahoma Film & Music Office. The Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate offers a cash rebate of up to 37% on Oklahoma expenditures to qualifying companies filming in the state. The program is currently capped at $5 million per year. The company must have a minimum budget of $50,000 and spend $25,000 in Oklahoma.
