Charlie Baby Productions and Narrator Entertainment, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), are proud to announce the successful completion of principal photography on the feature film “Whaling”, which wrapped production last week in Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
“Whaling” is a road trip comedy about a dysfunctional, estranged brother and sister who are brought together over their mother’s passing and her request to dispose of her ashes in a very unique way.
The film stars Tammin Sursok (“Pretty Little Liars”) who co-wrote the script with her husband, Sean McEwen, who is directing. Alongside Cassidy Lunnen (“Baby, Baby, Baby”), the trio are producing “Whaling” after recently wrapping production on the new comedy TV series “Aussie Girl” earlier this year. Takashi Cheng is serving as Executive Producer for “Whaling”.
In addition to Sursok, the production has announced additional cast members, including Tom Felton (“Harry Potter” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), David Koechner (“Anchorman”, “Twin Peaks”), Wendi McLendon-Covey (“The Goldbergs”, “Bridesmaids”) and Austin Swift (“Live by Night”, “I.T.”).
“We came to Oklahoma because of the competitive incentives, but received so much more,” said Producers McEwen and Lunnen. “To the locals, the crew and the film commission, everyone was accommodating, eager and willing to support us and this film. We had a wonderful experience, and know we’ll be back soon.”
The film, which utilized the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO, commenced production in late July and filmed at various locations throughout the state, including Oklahoma City, Jenks, Catoosa, Pauls Valley, Guthrie and Wynnewood.
“Oklahoma’s film incentive first attracted the production team to the state,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “Once they scouted here, the state’s diverse landscapes provided a broad canvas for this road trip comedy to achieve multiple looks with Oklahoma doubling for a number of other states and locations. Our office greatly enjoyed working with the ‘Whaling’ production team whose economic impact has been felt in communities throughout Oklahoma.”
