The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), in conjunction with Visit Enid, is proud to announce the City of Enid has achieved ‘film friendly’ certification after completing the requirements for OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program.
“From national recruitment efforts at the Sundance Film Festival to localized mobilization throughout the state, Visit Enid has been a great community partner for us throughout the years, and champion of the state’s film and television industry,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We’re so proud the City of Enid is the latest community to achieve film friendly certification through our program, and we look forward to working with them to further develop film and television production in their city and the surrounding region.”
The City of Enid is the first community in Northwest Oklahoma to achieve film friendly designation through OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program, joining nearly a dozen other cities across the state that have received this certification. No stranger to film production, Enid has previously hosted films such as “Wildlife”, the acclaimed directorial debut of actor Paul Dano starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan, and “To the Stars”, both of which celebrated their world premieres at the renowned Sundance Film Festival in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
“Playing host to the cast and crew from ‘Wildlife’ and ‘To the Stars’ was a tremendous benefit for Enid. Not only did these two films combine to bring an additional $2.4 million in direct local impact into our city and the surrounding communities, but several area residents have lifelong memories after providing business services to the crew or playing extras in the films,” said Visit Enid Director Rob Houston. “OF+MO’s Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program now makes it even easier for filmmakers to find all the great locations that Enid, our region and our state has to offer, and we are thrilled to be part of Oklahoma’s growing film industry.”
