The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a presenter of this year’s Horton Records Rock ’N Folk ’N (no) Chili Cook-Off. Now in its seventh year, the Rock ’N Folk ’N (no) Chili Cook-Off will host a blended event, with a limited-capacity in-person event and a virtual component, on November 7, 2020, at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature live music from Tulsa musicians Nightingale, Brad Absher & The Superials, Jacob Tovar and Paul Benjamin’s Sunday Nite Thing.
In previous years, this all-ages, family-friendly fundraiser has featured a competition with chili samples from Tulsa-area restaurants and local musicians. This year, with the health and safety of those attending the show in mind, samples will not be provided at the event. Instead, participating restaurants will have chili on their menus, and patrons can go online to vote for their favorite chili until November 1. Winners will be announced during the event.
Horton Records is a volunteer-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) Tulsa music organization who has released more than 80 titles from Oklahoma artists and distributed more than 100,000 physical units worldwide. Its mission is to provide services that develop and support musicians in the Tulsa area, while fostering community with other creative partners and building on the rich musical heritage in the region. Each year, they book more than 100 shows on behalf of Oklahoma artists, free of charge, with approximately $50,000 annually being paid directly to musicians.
“We definitely have a great lineup of music, and it will be an entertaining evening for everyone,” said Brian Horton, President of Horton Records. “We’re grateful for the support that enables us to further our mission to help Oklahoma artists grow and develop and release music, which collectively raises the profile of our community and continues to build on the rich tradition of this region.”
Tickets are now on sale for a limited number of reserved-seating, socially distanced tables of four for $160 (+ fees). The price includes four chili meal boxes catered by Lambrusco’z. Guests are required to comply with a COVID-19 protocol, and masks must be worn when not seated. There will be a silent auction during the event, which will include a new painting by Tulsa artist Chris Mantle.
