Oklahoma Film + Music Office Announces Sponsorship of Thunderbird Drone Festival

The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a returning sponsor of the third annual Thunderbird Drone Festival taking place in Woodward, Okla., August 25-26. The Thunderbird Drone Festival is Oklahoma’s first and only drone film and photo festival and drone technology event and one of the only drone events of its kind in the Midwest.

“Sponsors play a crucial role in bringing the Thunderbird Drone Festival to life. We’re incredibly grateful to have the support of Oklahoma Film + Music as a returning sponsor this year,” said Thunderbird Drone Festival Director Chris Castor. “They not only help us put on a great festival but also demonstrate the diverse applications of drones across various industries here in Oklahoma, including film. Their partnership elevates the event, allowing us to showcase the potential of drones while creating a memorable experience for all our attendees”

Last year’s festival marked growth from the event’s inaugural year with over 400 attendees and more than 200 stunning video and photo submissions from 30 countries around the globe. Now, in its third year, the Thunderbird Drone Festival seeks to continue its upward trajectory with two jam-packed days of events, including an international film festival featuring Oklahoma film talent, drone technology panels and classes, first-person view (FPV) races and demos, a drone light show, a kid’s drone corral and more. Additionally, for the first time, the U.S. Drone Soccer League has partnered with the festival to give attendees the chance to experience firsthand the unique and exhilarating sport, and NASA representatives will also be on-hand offering children the opportunity to participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities on-site.

As part of the sponsorship of the Thunderbird Drone Festival, OF+MO will present the Best Oklahoma Film Award at the event’s award ceremony and exhibit at the festival in promotion of the state’s film industry and related workforce, infrastructure and drone technologies.

“Our office has seen firsthand the impact this unique festival has, not only in the celebration of drone technology, but in bringing together a diverse audience of moviemakers and enthusiasts as well as leaders in technology, manufacturing, research and policy for two days of valuable education and engagement,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton. “As such, we’re thrilled to be a returning sponsor and look forward to engaging in the ever-evolving technology of drones, which has revolutionized multiple industries, including the way moviemakers approach filming on-location.”
