The Oklahoma Film and Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a returning partner of the 26th annual Woody Guthrie Folk Festival (WoodyFest) taking place in Okemah, Okla., July 12-16. One of the longest-running festivals in Oklahoma, WoodyFest is held annually to commemorate the life and music of the iconic Woody Guthrie.
The 2023 WoodyFest lineup boasts an exceptional roster featuring over 50 trailblazing songwriters, emerging artists and music industry professionals, including third & fourth generation Guthrie songwriters Annie Guthrie, Cathy Guthrie and Serena Guthrie. In addition to live music featured throughout the week, WoodyFest will also host education panels and programs as well as free events like the annual Children’s Festival featuring activities for all ages.
“As one of the state’s longest-running festivals, we are honored to receive support from our public partners, including the Oklahoma Film + Music Office and the Oklahoma Arts Council,” said Woody Guthrie Coalition Executive Director Randy Norman. “WoodyFest is a labor of love for the Woody Guthrie Coalition, and we’re excited to present this year’s phenomenal lineup of artists, which wouldn’t be possible without their support.”
As part of its partnership with WoodyFest, OF+MO will present the Bound for Glory stage featuring nearly two dozen performances from artists, including Oklahoma’s own Mallory Eagle, Carter Sampson, Kyle Reid, Randy Crouch and Red Dirt Rangers to name a few. Located inside The Coral (215 W. Broadway), performances on the Bound for Glory stage are slated as follows: Thursday (6/13) 1:30 – 7:30 p.m.; Friday (6/14) 12:30 – 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday (6/15) 1:30 – 7:30 p.m.
“Not only does WoodyFest pay tribute to one of Oklahoma’s most beloved music pioneers, but it also provides our local musicians a platform to showcase their talents and artistry to the thousands of visitors who come from across the country to attend this unique event,” said OF+MO Director Jeanette Stanton.
