The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), a division of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, was honored to receive the award for “Outstanding Film Commission” at the 2022 Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) Awards.
The LMGI is a global organization of career location professionals in the motion picture, television, commercial and print production industries dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards as well as supporting strong relationships between production and government agencies, businesses and communities. A first-time nominee and now winner, OF+MO was recognized by the LMGI for its efforts in production assistance for the hit FX television series “Reservation Dogs,” which is currently streaming its second season on Hulu. Co-created by Oklahoma’s own Sterlin Harjo, “Reservation Dogs” was the first scripted television series to be produced in-state and has had a direct, positive economic impact on multiple locations throughout Northeast Oklahoma, including Okmulgee, Tulsa, Sand Springs, Terlton, Inola and Beggs.
“We are incredibly grateful to the LMGI for this honor, which attests to the hard work and value of film commissions like ours across the world,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We couldn’t be prouder of the spotlight this accolade shines on our dedicated film workforce, businesses, film friendly communities and educators with whom we work alongside to continue growing Oklahoma’s film and television industry.”
“Congratulations to the Oklahoma Film + Music Office on this tremendous and well-deserved award,” said Sen. Chuck Hall. “It’s exciting to not only see Oklahoma on-screen, but also to see the new jobs and opportunities this is bringing to Oklahomans and communities across our state.”
“The film industry is making a tremendous impact in our state, particularly in bringing new opportunities and interest to rural areas,” said Rep. Scott Fetgatter. “I applaud the work of the Oklahoma Film + Music Office and their tireless approach at growing this industry.”
In addition to OF+MO’s win for “Outstanding Film Commission,” local film professionals, including LMGI member Chris Kucharski and Shane Brown, were nominated for their work on “Reservation Dogs” in the “Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Television Series” category.
