The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to be a returning partner of SeriesFest, an award-winning annual independent television pilot festival based in Denver, which will be held for the eighth time May 5-11.
Dedicated to showcasing innovative episodic content and championing artists at the forefront of such independent programming, SeriesFest Season 8 will include a slate of special events, premieres and panels with talent and executives from Starz’s “Becoming Elizabeth,” TBS’ “Rat in the Kitchen,” AMC+’s “This is Going to Hurt,” Netflix’s “Somebody Feed Phil,” Hulu’s “Candy” and many more.
OF+MO’s partnership with SeriesFest provides the opportunity to promote the state as a top destination for film and television by directly engaging the event’s special guests and attendees as the branded partner of the festival’s official registration area and workspace center. OF+MO will have access to business and talent recruitment opportunities among industry experts and talent representing major television studios, production companies, acclaimed series and independent filmmakers from across the globe, including Showtime, Lionsgate, Peacock TV, Starz and many more. Also participating at the event is the Cherokee Nation Film Office who will host a special panel, “Changing the Narrative: Focus on Indigenous Representation,” featuring Jennifer Loren (Director of the Cherokee Nation Film Office & Original Content), Stacey Rice (Casting Director) and Sierra Teller Onelas (Co-Creater/Showrunner, “Rutherford Falls”).
Oklahoma will also be making a splash on-screen at the festival with the world premiere of “Faculty Lounging,” which will screen as part of the Independent Pilot Competition. “Faculty Lounging” tells the story of two teachers who find themselves secretly living in their faculty lounge amidst a housing crisis and low salaries. The project was produced entirely in Oklahoma at Green Pastures Studio, one of the state’s certified soundstages, and utilized the state’s film incentive program administered by OF+MO.
“We’re excited to continue our partnership with SeriesFest, particularly as television production in Oklahoma is on the rise as we’re currently hosting three major television series,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “This may be our most visible year yet at the festival yet, and we look forward to returning in person to connect with this year’s attendees and tout the amazing opportunities Oklahoma’s skilled film workforce, incredible infrastructure and camera-ready communities offer the television industry.”
