The Film Education Institute of Oklahoma (FEIO) and Tulsa Technology Center (Tulsa Tech) are proud to announce a partnership to produce an educational film workshop in Tulsa, Oklahoma, June 13-16 at Tulsa Tech’s Riverside Campus. The Film Production Workshop provides educational and real-world experiences to individuals interested in pursuing a career in the film industry.
“The FEIO is excited to bring this workshop program to the east side of the state with our wonderful partners at Tulsa Tech,” said Trevor Rogers, Executive Director of the FEIO. “Tulsa Tech is a giant in the CareerTech world and the perfect co-sponsor for this event. This workshop will boost the Tulsa filmmaking community, and we couldn’t be more eager to welcome these new filmmakers to our state’s ever-growing workforce.”
The FEIO has successfully produced six workshops in the Oklahoma City area and is thrilled to bring this opportunity to Tulsa. Since the first Film Production Workshop in 2016, the FEIO has equipped hundreds of Oklahomans with the skills required to work in the film industry.
Through its annual partnership, the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to assist the FEIO in presenting this latest workshop, which sees Oklahoma film industry professionals serving as mentors and sharing their film knowledge and expertise with workshop participants. Industry-standard equipment is donated for workshop use by Nathan Gardocki Productions (NGP) and other numerous statewide vendors and filmmakers to give students hands-on opportunities to learn on gear found on film and television productions.
“We’re proud to continue our partnership with FEIO as they take their workshop to Tulsa and engage new audiences in the statewide development of Oklahoma’s film industry and workforce,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “With a number of film productions and television series in production throughout the state and more coming down the pipeline later this year, there’s no better time to learn and start your career in Oklahoma’s film industry.”
The workshop entails four days of training to increase participants’ knowledge about the film industry. The workshop will teach industry skills in addition to how to work on a film set safely.
Individuals can register to be in departments commonly found on a film set, including assistant director (A.D.), art, camera, continuity, costume, electric, grip, hair, makeup, property, and sound. Each department will work together to produce a short film under the guidance of an industry professional.
Enrollment is now open for this workshop and can be found on the Tulsa Tech course catalog under FILM-3336 or by calling the Enrollment Center at 918-828-5000. The four-day workshop costs $395 and includes breakfast and lunch every day.
