The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF) will honor the fall 2015 inductees at the Muskogee Civic Center on Friday, October 16, 2015. This year’s class of inductees will include Restless Heart, Becky Hobbs, Tim DuBois, Scott Hendricks and Smiley Weaver. All inductees are scheduled to appear at the event.
“The common thread with this group of inductees is country music. Tim, Scott, and Becky are all being honored as recipients of the ‘Mae Axton Boren Songwriting Award’ and Smiley as recipient of the ‘Eldon Shamblin Sideman Award’. Additionally, Tim and Scott were very instrumental in the formation and success of Restless Heart.” said Jim Blair, the executive director for OMHOF.
The induction ceremony and concert will return to Muskogee after being hosted in Tulsa at The Mabee Center and Cain’s Ballroom, and in Bristow at the Freeland Center. Becky Hobbs and Restless Heart are scheduled to perform at the induction. Tim DuBois, Scott Hendricks, and Smiley Weaver will appear as part of their induction presentation.
“The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) congratulates the new OMHOF inductees this fall and applauds the OMHOF for recognizing some of Oklahoma’s finest talent, not only the performers on the front lines but the songwriters and music business geniuses behind it all. Being reminded of the rich talent that stems out of our great state is not only an inspiration to Oklahoma’s emerging talent but is humbling and makes our office proud to continue working hard to support and promote our local music industry,” said Tava Maloy Sofsky, director of OF+MO.
A V.I.P. reception will kick off the October 16 event at 6:00 p.m. in Rooms C and D of the Muskogee Civic Center. The concert/induction ceremony will follow the reception beginning at 8:00 p.m. and will include a video biography of each inductee. V.I.P. tickets are $125 and will include hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar; reserved seating tickets range from $20-$40. Tickets are available through Ticket Master or by calling 800-745-3000.
