Coolidge/Ward Productions, in association with Make It Take It Productions and the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), is pleased to announce that principal photography has begun in Oklahoma on the feature film “The Turkey Bowl”.
The film follows a mid-30’s urbanite who is pulled back to his rural Oklahoma hometown by his high school buddies in order to finish ‘The Turkey Bowl’, a football game that was snowed out against their bitter crosstown rivals 15 years prior. The film’s cast includes Alan Ritchson (“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”, “Blue Mountain State”), Ryan Hansen (“G.I. Joe: Retaliation”, “Veronica Mars”), Matt Jones (“Breaking Bad”, “Mom”), Kristen Hager (“Alien vs. Predator: Requiem”, “Being Human”) and Oklahoma’s own football legend Barry Switzer.
Raised in Oklahoma, “The Turkey Bowl” marks a homecoming for Director Greg Coolidge who previously directed Lionsgate’s “Employee of the Month” as well as wrote and created the Universal Picture’s “Ride Along” franchise starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube. An alumnus of the University of Oklahoma, Coolidge looks forward to filming on-location in the City of Norman.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be in Norman, making my passion project,” said Coolidge. “‘The Turkey Bowl’ is essentially my homage to a town and state that I adore. It’s a way for me to give back to an area that gave me so much, an area that helped form me into who I am today.”
The film, which is utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO, began principal photography on March 7, 2018. Additional photography is scheduled to occur in Norman and throughout the surrounding Cleveland and McClain counties.
“Our local filmmakers, returning expatriates and international clients share one thing in common – they are making their films in Oklahoma, which is a positive testament to the effectiveness of the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “Productions like ‘The Turkey Bowl’ provide training and job opportunities for our workforce while further developing our state’s film businesses. We’re looking forward to the positive impact this film has while on-location working with the film-friendly hospitality of our communities.”
