ii Films, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), are pleased to announce the successful completion of principal photography on the feature film “Treasure Lies”, which wrapped production on July 6, 2019, in Yukon after several weeks of filming throughout central Oklahoma.
Written and produced by award-winning filmmaker Scott A Peterson (“The Current”, “Miles Between Us”) of ii Films, “Treasure Lies” is a faith-based, family film that tells the story of a hardworking, all-American teenager who, after feeling let down by life, learns a lesson in faith, character, contentedness and integrity through an unexpected windfall. The film is directed by Emmy Award winner Brett Varvel, and welcomes lead performances by newcomers Caleb Milby and Rachel Cameron as well as strong supporting turns from Cameron Arnett (“Champion”, “Overcomer”), Brooks Ryan (“Unplanned”) and Dariush Moslemi (“Miles Between Us”, “Catching Faith”).
Utilizing the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by OF+MO, principal photography began on June 7, 2019. The City of Yukon served as the primary production hub with additional filming in the communities of Edmond and Oklahoma City. Peterson was first drawn to bringing his production to Oklahoma by familial ties as his daughter and son-in-law live in Yukon and own the local business Bath Sorbet, which has operations in the area as well as Edmond. Peterson’s decision was cemented by the benefits offered by the state’s film incentive program and his first hand experiences of the hospitality the production received in the region’s film-friendly communities.
“We’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the hospitality, kindness and enthusiasm that has greeted us”, said Peterson. “It’s not only made this project so much easier, it’s made it a lot of fun and given us new friendships and connections we’ll want to continue. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to be.”
Founded by Scott and Diane Peterson, ii Films is a faith-based production company based out of Minnesota whose previous credits include “Miles Between Us” and “The Current”. Their third feature film, “Treasure Lies”, is the first production from the company to film in Oklahoma utilizing the state’s film incentive.
“The Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program welcomes filmmakers from across the globe to bring their productions to our state,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We’re so incredibly happy that Oklahoma could help set the scene for ‘Treasure Lies’ as we continue welcoming new, diversified business opportunities for filmmakers that positively impact our state’s economy and continue to grow our film industry.”
