OF+MO Film School Video Series
The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is excited to share our OF+MO Film School video series, which originally streamed at the 2020 deadCenter Film Festival. OF+MO Film School provides introductory courses on film topics from some of the state’s top working film professionals.
Intro to Production
“Intro to Production” features Oklahoma film professional Nathan Gardocki of NGP Productions detailing expectations and responsibilities for those just beginning their careers working on professional film and television productions.
Make-up & Hair
Let the transformation begin! This week’s course on “Make-up & Hair” features Oklahoma film professionals Toni Marlo (“13 Minutes”, “She’s the Eldest”) and Alex Ford (“13 Minutes”, “Wildlife”) breaking down the roles of their respective departments and how they collaborate with the film team to help bring the script’s characters to life on-screen.
Post Production
You’ve made a film, now what? This introductory course on “Post Production” details what happens after the filming is complete and the production heads into the editing process for final presentation/distribution. Led by Jacob Snovel of Perm Machine (“Climate of the Hunter”, “Mickey Reece’s Alien”), this course also features an exclusive video tour of one of Oklahoma City’s top post-production facilities, Castle Row Studios and Post Hero with owner Garrett Starks.
Set Etiquette
It all starts with a good attitude and strong work ethic. Join Oklahoma Film & TV Academy co-founder Richard Janes and industry professional Alisha East (ABC’s “Modern Family”, “Golden Arm”) for a conversation on the importance of set etiquette for those working across all departments of film and television productions.

This course on CGI Animation features Stephanie Roach of Boiling Point Media highlighting the unique work she has done with the company as an animator on film productions where she has created everything from prehistoric dinosaurs to loveable cartoon creatures and more!
Location Scouting
Join some of Oklahoma’s most seasoned location professionals Alison Naifeh (“Stillwater”, “I Can Only Imagine”), Chris Kucharski (“Stillwater”, “The Veil”) and Dylan Brodie (“Stillwater”, “American Gods”) as they hit the road with a virtual course on Location Scouting, breaking down the process from script to screen while visiting some of central Oklahoma’s most unique filming destinations.
Virtual Audition
This course features Casting Society of America (CSA) Casting Director Ricki Maslar (“Christmas in the Heartland”, “The Competition”) providing valuable insight to actors on the virtual audition process for film and television production and what talent can best expect and prepare for to optimize the work they present.
Intro to Art Department
This “Intro to Art Department” course features industry professional and Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) film instructor Sean Lynch diving into the world of production and art design on film and television productions with blockbuster examples highlighting the hard work, creativity and innovation of this trade.
Producing Films in Oklahoma
OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky moderates a course on “Producing Films in Oklahoma” with filmmakers Bennett LeBarre (“Breaking Them Up”) and Wendi Foy Green (“Birdie”) highlighting Oklahoma film industry’s talent, workforce, infrastructure and communities.
Costuming
With this introductory course on costuming, go behind the “seams” with Oklahoma film professionals Jack O’Dell and Jenava Burguiere of Ginger House Inc. (“13 Minutes”, “The Chickasaw Rancher”) as they break down the creative role, work and responsibilities of the wardrobe department on film and television productions.
