QWGmire, Divide/Conquer, and Perm Machine, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), are proud to announce the completion of principal photography on the feature film “Agnes”. The production filmed in central Oklahoma.
“Agnes” is written by Oklahomans John Selvidge (“Climate of the Hunter”) and Mickey Reece (“Strike, Dear Mistress, and Cure His Heart”). The film is being directed by Reece and produced by Oklahoman Jacob Ryan Snovel (“Mickey Reece’s Alien”). The film stars Molly C. Quinn (“Castle”) and Jake Horowitz (“Vast of Night”), among many other notable names such as Sean Gunn (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Chris Browning (“Bright”), Rachel True (“The Craft”), Zandy Hartig (“Medical Police”), and Oklahoman Hayley McFarland (“The Conjuring”).
Both Reece and Snovel reside in Oklahoma and have made previous films in the state. They’ve worked together on more than ten films including “Mickey Reece’s Alien”, which won multiple awards, including Best Oklahoma Film at deadCenter Film Festival.
“We were so excited to bring another movie to Oklahoma,” said Snovel. “The rebate became an integral part of the negotiation, pre-production and funding process. Following last year’s rebated film, ‘Climate of the Hunter’, we were not only able to increase our funding—and therefore crew size—we could also support QWGmire’s (Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty, Elan Gale) ability to bring in big-name actors to fill roles that will elevate the value of the film and further our ability to keep operating and providing more jobs in Oklahoma, for Oklahoma workers.”
“Agnes” is a smart genre/horror film about a church investigation into a religious convent’s nuns, prompted by rumors of a demonic possession. Reece has found success in this genre before, and both his 2018 and 2019 films, “Strike, Dear Mistress, and Cure His Heart” and “Climate of the Hunter”, earned world premieres in Austin at Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the U.S. specializing in horror, fantasy, sci-fi and action. “Agnes” hired about 50 local crew members as well as 50 local extras.
“It is critical to retain in-state talent such as Mickey Reece and Jacob Snovel, and it is affirming to see their projects becoming larger films in both size and scope year after year,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky. “We are proud to work with artistic leaders who have helped spark the growth we’ve seen in recent years in our local film community.”
