Wild Indian, LLC, in association with the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO), is proud to announce the completion of principal photography on the feature film “Wild Indian”. The production filmed for over two weeks in central Oklahoma.
The film is written and directed by Lyle Mitchel Corbine Jr. and produced by Oklahoman Blake Pickens (“The Land”) and Thomas Mahoney (“The Girl in the Photographs”). The line producer is Edgar Rosa (“Brand New Old Love”), and executive producers are Eric Tavitian, Katy Bettner, Lesli Masoner, Dan McClung, Niraj Bhatia, Joel Michaely, Jesse Eisenberg and Oklahoman Brent Ryan Green. Eisenberg also stars in the film alongside Michael Greyeyes (“Blood Quantum”), Oklahoma-born Chaske Spencer (“The Twilight Saga”), and Kate Bosworth (“Superman Returns”). Production service and rebate financing was provided by Green’s company Grey Hour Production Service.
Several native Oklahomans were hired for key crew positions, including Michelle De Long, as a casting director; Talia Bella and Randy Wayne, as production managers; Steve Francis, as gaffer; Matt Hixenbaugh, as costume designer; and Angel Hanes, as lead hair and makeup.
“Bringing a film back to Oklahoma was an amazing experience,” said Pickens. “I’m originally from OKC, and the support of the local film community on ‘Wild Indian’ was incredible. I can’t wait to shoot here again!”
“Wild Indian” tells a tale of two Anishinaabe men who are inextricably bound together after covering up the savage murder of a schoolmate. After years of separation following wildly divergent paths, they must finally confront how their traumatic secret has irrevocably shaped their lives. The film was supported by the Sundance Institute through the Writers and Directors Labs, and a large majority of the crew were current and former Oklahoma residents.
